Born from Urgency, Built for Legacy
The Biciid Center for Culture and Nature was officially established on October 17, 2019, in Garowe, Puntland, by a group of Somali scholars, elders, and cultural custodians alarmed by the rapid erosion of cultural knowledge and heritage.
The idea for Biciid Center was born from countless intergenerational dialogues and the urgent realization that Somali traditions, oral literature, and ecological wisdom were vanishing amid civil disruption, globalization, and neglect.
Since its inception, Biciid Center has evolved into a trusted cultural institution: a hub for oral history, archaeological research, ecological knowledge, and community education—both a sanctuary for endangered traditions and a bridge to future innovation.
